THOMAS J MUNGER III, DDS
Dr. Munger is very passionate about dentistry and good health. He is dedicated to excellence and to providing the very best personalized care for his patients. To do this he is committed to continuing education and providing an atmosphere that is comfortable, caring and compassionate. Dr. Munger says, "Without teeth, you have no smile!" You will enjoy Dr. Munger and his staff.
Dr. Munger lived the first 16 years of his life in Adrian, Michigan before moving with his family to Lawrence, Kansas. There he met his wife, Joanne, in high school. Dr. Munger took his undergraduate studies and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Just prior to graduation, Dr. Munger volunteered to serve as a dentist in the Air Force if he could be stationed at Elmendorf AFB, AK. The Air Force obliged, and Dr. Munger served for 3-1/2 years.
After completing his tour of duty in the Air Force, Dr. Munger worked as an associate dentist until December 1975. At that time he opened his own clinic at the current location, 12900 Old Seward Highway in Anchorage, providing dental care to Alaskans for the last 35 years.
Dr. Munger's passion and goal has always been to provide the very best over-all, personalized care for his patients. He enjoys creating beautiful smiles, and he studies continually to help achieve this level of excellence. He also likes to teach his patients about wellness and good nutrition.
Dr. Munger, as a general dentist, offers a wide variety of services—cosmetic dentistry, including Lumineers and Snap-On Appliances; beautiful, as well as comfortable, properly fitting composite fillings, crowns, and bridges; root canals; non-sensitive teeth-whitening, and a wonderful, leading-edge non-invasive program to stop gum disease (with proper patient participation).
Dr. Munger and his staff have attended several small, personalized classes at the Cerinate Studio in Santa Maria, California, as well as big group meetings, to get hands-on experience for creating those amazing "Hollywood Smiles."
In the late 1970's Dr. Munger started studying orthopedics/orthodontics. He wanted to provide treatment for his patients so they would have broad, beautiful smiles, full complement of teeth, and a healthy temporomandibular joint. He was a charter member of the American Association for Functional Orthodontics. This organization recently merged with another, so he is now a member of the International Association for Orthodontics.
Dr. Munger has continued his study of orthodontics, including straight wire, and clear braces (appliances). He is able to offer patients a choice of modalities, including orthopedic expansion appliances, clear appliances (Invisalign and Clear Correct) and straight wire—whatever he and the patient feel is best to achieve the desired result and best smile.
